"If you loved the book Little Women as you were growing up — as I did — this show is for you! For all of us who imagined ourselves in Jo’s shoes, this show is a dream come true. As for the production itself, I have two words: “Astonishing” and “Amazing.” And I was truly “Delighted.” "
"Terrific songs that were performed beautifully. This story is new to me, so I enjoyed the character evolution. Every one of the cast members did a wonderful job. Thanks for a terrific evening of entertainment! "

From the Executive Director
Dear Erie Playhouse Family,
When I am out and about town or at Erie Playhouse events, it is inevitable that people ask me “How’s it going at the Erie Playhouse?” I am always grateful for the question, but then I am somewhat dumbstruck for an answer…
There is a strange dichotomy at your Erie Playhouse – the show business and the business of show! The show business is the easier of the two. The Erie Playhouse staff, along with our dedicated volunteer talent, love creating live theatre experiences for our loyal audiences. We try hard to meet the challenge of finding both new and popular pieces to mount on our stage every season. As always, our goal is to put quality theatre on our stage so you keep coming back for more. We want you to know that whichever show is produced, it meets the high standards you have held us up to.
Now to the business of show…we are a $1.2 million dollar operation. We own and maintain two facilities - the 10th Street theatre at 17,200+ sq. feet and the costume and scenic shops & warehouses/two rehearsal halls at 30,000+ sq. feet. We have developed a working three-year strategic plan focusing on six vital areas – artistic, financial, development, marketing, leadership and facilities. We work hard raising dollars to match the escalating costs of running a business. Donors, sponsors, advertisers, and season ticket holders are our life line. We could not run our business without you. The only variables in our budget are those associated with producing shows. And there’s the rub – if we don’t have the necessary revenue to meet fixed expenses, we have to cut our variable expenses...we have made the full circle back to show business.
Please know how thankful the Erie Playhouse staff is for every single one of you who has the Erie Playhouse in your life in some way. We would not be here if it weren’t for you. We will take the trust you have given us and push forward in all areas of show business and the business of show!
Happy Holidays to you and your family – see you at the theatre!

Jim Griffey - 35 years at the EP
On Thursday, February 28, Erie Playhouse volunteer, Jim Griffey was honored for his 35 years of volunteer service to the Erie Playhouse. On hand to honor Jim were the EP staff, David and Judy Matthews, Board Members, Playhouse family and orchestra members that have shared the "pit" with Jim over the years. Lou Baxter presented Jim a drum head signed by Playhouse Family members. In addition to his dedication as a percussionist in our pit orchestra, Jim has served as a board member and along with his wife, Nancy, has generously donated to several projects at the Erie Playhouse. Jim and Nancy are pictured here with the drum head .
