yep! Members Invited to November 19th Chamber Annual Meeting

The Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership (ERCGP) would like to extend a special invitation to the yep! membership to the organization's 2009 Annual Meeting on Thursday, November 19 at the Ambassador Center, 7794 Peach Street. The event begins at 4 p.m. with a brief business meeting and election of the ERCGP Board of Directors.

The Chamber will announce the launch of two major new initiatives — an exciting lead generation and collaborative marketing system for manufacturers and a powerful new energy program — during the Annual Meeting. Erie County Executive-Elect Barry Grossman will also deliver the keynote speech in one of his first public appearances since winning the November election.

A cocktail reception will follow the program at approximately 5 p.m. The event is free and open to all yep! members. Due to Young Erie Professionals' close working relationship with the ERCGP, membership in the Chamber is not required to attend this special event.

Please RSVP by sending an email to rsvp@eriepa.com with the subject "Annual Meeting" by November 13.

SAVE THE DATE - yep! Holiday Gift Wrapping Party

SAVE THE DATE - yep! Holiday Gift Wrapping Party

The 2009 yep! gift drive will be held on December 10th from 5:30 - 7:30 at the Fox and Hound. The annual event is a must attend for any new or longtime yep! member. This year we have partnered with Safenet to purchase holiday gifts for those less fortunate in our community. To make the selection and organization of the event easier, the requested gifts spreadsheet will be published online early next week. If you would like to make a monetary donation versus purchasing a gift, please click on the Donate button to submit your secure payment via Paypal on the website.  The online list and Paypal link will be located here.

yep! also has partnered with the Erie Chapter of PICPA to collect gifts for the 2009 event. We look forward to working with the members of PICPA to generate additional interest in the event and collect more gifts for Safenet.

Always Looking For Up-and-Coming Leaders!

Always Looking For Up-and-Coming Leaders!

yep! is currently going through an exciting leadership transition, and we have opportunities available on many committees including marketing, social networking, community service, civic engagement, and more.

Although the terms of several of our steering committee members do not end until December, we are in the process of recruiting individuals not only to join the above committees, but also to join yep!'s leadership team. The steering committee manages the day to day operations of the organization with oversight provided by the Board of Directors.

If you would like to learn more about becoming a member of the steering committee, please email yep! President Matt Wiertel, or read more details on Matt's yep! blog.

Meet A Member!

This month meet yep! member Jeff Evans, Employee Benefit Consultant at Employee Benefit Resources, Inc.:

  • Education (College & Degree): John Carroll University / BSBA in Marketing
  • How long have you lived in Erie: All my life
  • How long have you been involved with yep!: 1.5 years
  • Most memorable Erie event: I'm an avid concert goer so my favorite memories are from Erie concerts. I've seen everything from The Goo
Goo Dolls to Ludacris...I even went to see Eiffel 65.
  • Favorite Erie restaurant: Pufferbelly
  • Item you suggest we try from this restaurant: Breast of Chicken Pufferbelly
  • What do you like about Erie and living here: I used to think that I couldn't wait to get out of Erie, until I started traveling to other cities and realized how good we really have it. We have a peninsula that attracts people from everywhere, the beautiful changing of seasons, and the fact that you can be anywhere in 10 minutes is something that too many people take for granted.
  • Favorite Erie sports team: Bayhawks
  • What do you do in your spare time: There's nothing better than watching a good movie. I also enjoy running, golfing and skiing, or you can always find me reading at the library.
  • What do you want to do in Erie that you haven't yet tried: Someday, I hope to run the Erie marathon at the peninsula.
  • Anything else you would like to share with your fellow yep! members: I'm always interested in meeting new people, so if you see me
at a yep! event, or out and about in Erie, make sure to say hello.

Feel free to contact Jeff via email!
