From the Executive Director
Dear Erie Playhouse Family,
February marks the half-way point of our 91st theatrical season. At this time, the staff and board take a look at our accomplishments to date and what work we have to focus on for the remainder of the season. Like any business, this is inevitably tied to the bottom line.
The staff and board set revenue and expense goals for every production. You can count on the staff to keep expenses in line without jeopardizing the quality of the productions you come to see.
The revenue is tied to the season ticket holders and “walk-in” sales based on comparable shows from past seasons. We are extremely conservative in our estimates, so these goals have to be met. A show like Crowns has a modest walk-in goal of $11,000 where a show like our summer hit Footloose has an anticipated walk-in goal of over $39,000.
We spend lots of time and effort getting the word out about our shows. I hope you have seen us on TV and billboards! However, YOU ARE OUR BEST PR! We count on you to spread the word to those in our community and visitors to Erie to give us a first-time try or to those who have been here before to visit us for another night of quality, live-theatre entertainment!
It’s a win-win situation: if you walk through our front doors, purchase a ticket from $12-$20 (we always have $12 seats available!) and sit in our brand new, comfortable seats to watch live theatre, you are helping us reach our goal!
I look forward to seeing you at the theatre this month for the last weekend of Crowns (Feb. 6-10) and Little Women (Feb. 22-Mar. 9).
See you at the theatre!
Almi

The What’s Your Art? United Arts Fund Drive Campaign is underway thoughout the month of February. It takes a lot of artists to make a thriving, vibrant arts community. Chances are you have an artistic passion or you know or live with an artist. The Erie Playhouse is fortunate to work with hundreds of volunteer, community artists every season. Check out www.artserie.org for more information about this worthwhile campaign that benefits ALL the arts in Erie.
