DISCO LIVES

Due to the Night Fever, a Disco Inferno is expected at the Warner Theatre this Saturday,  March 27. That’s when the Erie Philharmonic and Jeans ‘n Classics will Rock With You. It’s That 70’s Show and you Never Can Say Goodbye to those oldies because they’re Stayin’ Alive.

Okay, you get the idea. This Hanes Erie Pops Series concert takes you back to the days of polyester and platform shoes. Don’t forget to wear your mood ring, too!

Returning from London, Ontario our friends Jeans ‘n Classics will perform with us again. You may remember their Billy Joel, Elton John and Beach Boys tributes over the years.

Get your tickets early.  Prices range from $15 to $50. Doors open at 7 PM and the show begins at 8 PM.  The 2009-2010 season is presented by Scott Enterprises. That 70's Show is presented by Eriez Magnetics and also sponsored by Lincoln Metal, Fox 66 and Classy 100.

WELCOME

The Erie Phil family welcomes Danielle Demeter to our staff.  Danielle is our Box Office Assistant (part-time).  When you order tickets or subscriptions, Danielle will work with Eric Marshall,  Patron Services & Technology Manager, to serve you. 

A graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in Public Relations & Psychology, Danielle is currently pursuing an MBA at Penn State Behrend.  She previously served as an account coordinator with the The Susan Magrino Agency in New York City and as an intern with the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce and Hill & Knowlton Public Relations. 

THEY'VE MADE IT THERE

Both Frank Sinatra and Jay Z have sung about it; now your Erie Philharmonic Chorus will sing IN it!  The Chorus traveles to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, May 23 at 8:30 PM. 

The Erie Phil Chorus will be joined by the Penn State Behrend Choir, the Young People's Chorus of Erie and the North East High School Choir  to perform Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass under the direction of Dr. Jason Bishop, director of choral programs at Penn State Behrend and the Erie Phil Chorus.  Tickets can be purchased by calling the Carnegie Hall Box office at 212-247-7800. 

You can also catch the concert locally on Sunday, April 25 at 4 PM at the Fairview High School Auditorium.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for students.  Call 898-6789 for tickets.

CAN YOU BEAT BEETHOVEN?

You'll get your chance to try on Saturday, September 25 at 9 AM.  In the Erie Phil's first Beat Beethoven 5K, you will receive concert tickets if you cross the finish line before the final note of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony!

The race course begins and ends at the Warner Theatre on State Street.  If you'd like to volunteer to help with this event, which takes place on the morning of our opening night concert of the 2010-2011 season, or if you'd like to be involved as a sponsor, please contact us at 455-1375 x 18. 

More details will follow; in the meantime, lace up those sneakers.  Race day is just six months away!

ARTS ON TOUR

The Erie Philharmonic is pleased to once again be included along with 110 other professional Pennsylvania-based artists and companies on the artist roster for Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour (PennPAT). The roster encompasses all performing arts disciplines, and requires an extensive review process that considers both artistic merit and touring readiness.

The purpose of PennPAT is to increase opportunities for performing artists to obtain successful touring engagements. Through a multi-layered approach that includes grants, training, and marketing assistance, PennPAT seeks to support all aspects of presenting and touring.
