From the Executive Director
Dear Erie Playhouse Family,
Happy May to all of you! It’s so exciting to enjoy spring this year. I remember last year when we went from winter directly to summer and bypassed the beautiful springs we have in Erie.
Here at the Erie Playhouse, May brings the anticipation of the great summer shows we have on schedule in addition to the shows coming in our next season. If you have been online to see the new season or if you have received your Mainstage Season Ticket renewal notice (which you should have by now!), you will see that our 93rd season is loaded with shows you have wanted to see and performed by the exceptional volunteer talent at the Erie Playhouse. I can tell you that the EP staff is very excited to present the 2009-2010 season to you, but before we get there, we have five shows we are eager to present on our stage as we end our 92nd season with flair- they are The Constant Wife (April 30-May 3 - last weekend – don’t miss this funny and charming piece!), Anne of Green Gables (May 15-24),
Altar Boyz (June 5- 21), Prelude to a Kiss (July 9-19 – two weeks only!), and The Wedding Singer (July 31-August 16 with a possible hold-over weekend). These five Erie and Erie Playhouse premieres are enthusiastically awaiting audiences!
I hope you and your family can make time for the Erie Playhouse as you anticipate family members visiting you here in Erie now through August. Erie is a great place to live and visit – there are hundreds of things to do. Just think, in one day you can have an entertaining morning at the Erie Zoo, visit the Maritime Museum in the afternoon, and enjoy an Erie Playhouse show in the evening, all at an affordable cost while you vacation in your own home town!
We can all be proud of Erie and the great things we have to offer this summer. See you at the theatre -
Almi
Did You Know?
DID YOU KNOW…The Erie Community Foundation awards grants to nonprofit arts and culture organizations each April? This year, 20 nonprofits received over $243,000! The Erie Playhouse was fortunate to be one of the 20 organizations to receive a competitive grant award totaling $15,000. We will use the funding for necessary improvements to our stage including sound amplification through the orchestra rail, brand new black velour legs and borders (these are the curtains that hang high above the stage to hide the lights and in the wings to hide the offstage areas), and a permanent screen and projector, used to promote all things good about the Erie Playhouse.
A special thanks to The Erie Community Foundation and its donors for believing in the Erie Playhouse!
