GET YOUR PHIL AT NOON STARTS JUNE 3
The Erie Philharmonic’s Get Your Phil At Noon Summer Music Series kicks off on Tuesday, June 3 at noon in front of the Warner Theatre on State Street.
The first of three, free lunch-hour ensemble concerts, designed to provide “music while you munch,” will feature a Philharmonic string quartet fully amplified and seating for the outdoor event. WQLN radio will broadcast live from the event this year.
“As a thank you to Erie, and in anticipation of another great season, we are once again providing free entertainment to the public during the lunch-hour right outside the historic Warner Theatre,” Executive Director Eric Borenstein said. "Thank you to Highmark for once again sponsoring our summer series."
Music Director Daniel Meyer will announce the 2008-2009 season at the first concert on June 3. In addition, the Erie Phil is offering a special subscription sale on that day (see story below).
The other two dates for the free concerts are July 8 and August 12. The Get Your Phil At Noon Summer Music Series is sponsored by Highmark.

TULIPS A SURE BET
Nearly 200 Erie Phil supporters became horse race enthusiasts at last week's Run for the Tulips at Presque Isle Downs.
Guests filled a reserved section of the Clubhouse which was transformed into a spring time setting with beautiful tulip centerpieces. Presque Isle Downs created a one-of-a-kind ice sculpture of a violin and a Phil string quartet performed in between races. A sumptuous dinner buffet was served and guests bid on some fabulous silent auction items and placed bets on each of the evening's eight races. The seventh race, the Run for the Tulips race, was sponsored by WICU-TV 12.
Other race sponsors included: Binachi Honda, H. Jack Langer Plumbing, Lay Law Firm, Minerva Spa & Coventina Day Spa, Bill & Martha Hilbert, Inara Renkis, Erie Insurance, Lamar Advertising & Karen Black, and Divas Karen Lipman, Pauline Stevens, Betty Crandel, Mary Lincoln and Noreen Griffith.
The Erie Phil thanks all of the race sponsors and many others who contributed goods, services and financial support to make the inaugural Run for the Tulips a success. A special thanks to Debbie Porreco and Darlene Lay, event co-chairs and their wonderful and multi-talented committee for their accomplishments.

ANNUAL MEETING NEWS
The Erie Philharmonic’s Annual Board of Directors meeting which will be held on June 3 at the Bayfront Convention Center will focus on the positive direction the organization has taken in recent years and the announcement of a balanced budget to end the 2007-2008 season.
Executive Director Eric Borenstein attributes the success of the Erie Philharmonic to several factors including: providing programs that the community wants; the appointment of Daniel Meyer as music director and conductor; and the many regional activities in which the orchestra participates such as the Heritage Festival and a series at Edinboro University.
Board President Christie Ferrier will pass the gavel to incoming president Deborah Murphy who will hold the position for the next two years. The slate of new in-coming board members will be voted on by the Philharmonic board. It includes: Penny Austin, Dr. Jeremy Brown, Amy Denlinger, Annmarie George, Don Inderlied, Charlie Ingram, Darlene Lay, Jeremy Lincoln, Leslie Marsden, Joe Parlak, Debbie Porreco, Eric Root, Kelley Schultz, and Laura Symes.
Four individuals will be recognized for their extraordinary service to the Philharmonic. They include Peggy Richardson who is stepping off the board after serving since 1985; Gloria Knox who is also stepping down; Philharmonic Director of Operations Elaine Braun who is retiring in September; and Volunteer of the Year Doug Murphy who worked tirelessly to facilitate the Philharmonic’s move to a new office.
