A SISTER ACT

A SISTER ACT

While it’s not quite dueling pianos you will double your musical pleasure when one of the most intriguing duos of today’s classical scene performs with the Erie Philharmonic on Saturday, March 8th.

The Erie Phil and Music Director and Conductor Daniel Meyer welcome Christine and Michelle Naughton to the Warner stage as they perform Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos. Both multi award winners the young Naughtons began their piano studies at the age of four, and are currently in their freshmen year at the Curtis Institute of Music.

Christina made her orchestral debut with the Madison Symphony at the age of nine.  In 2002 she won the Chicago Steinway Society’s “Most Promising Pianist” competition. She performed with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra in 2004 as the winner of their concerto competition and Lewis Crosby scholarship. In 2005 Christina was the only American finalist and was awarded the bronze medal at the Gina Bachauer International Young Artist Competition.

Michelle Naughton made her orchestral debut with the Madison Symphony at the age of ten. In 2001, Michelle performed with the Midwest Young Artist Orchestra as the overall winner of the Walgreen’s Concerto Competition. She was also the winner of Chicago Steinway Society’s “Most Promising Pianist” competition in 2003. Michelle was the first prize- winner of the 2005 Virginia Waring International Piano Competition in Palm Desert, California. She was also the Artist in Residence with the Gulf Coast Symphony in 2005.

The Naughton sisters also enjoy performing two-piano music, which they will perform with the Erie Phil. Also on the program for the March 8 concert is Dukas’ Fanfare from La Peri and Mendelssohn’s Third Symphony, nicknamed the “Scottish” since its inspiration was one of his most memorable travel destinations. The piece paints Scottland’s craggy coastlines, churning seas, and radiant bursts of sunshine through the clouds in vivid orchestral color.

Ticket prices for the show range from $15 - $47. Discounts are available for students, groups, and seniors, and $10 Rush Tickets will be available 15 minutes before show time. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The 2007-2008 inaugural season of Daniel Meyer is presented by Scott Enterprises. This concert is presented by Trombino Piano Gallerie. Media partners include WPSE, WQLN, and JET 1400.

Trombino Piano Gallerie will hold a Steinway Open House in the Warner Lobby on Saturday, March 8, noon - 6 PM.

Subscribers can choose to renew online in an effort to save paper and save themselves some green!  More information about this initiative will follow.
