MAMMA MIA, YOUR CATS ARE WICKED!
The audience loved them last season and they’re returning to join the Erie Philharmonic for the opening concert of the Hanes Erie Pops Series on Saturday, October 18 at 8 PM at the Warner Theatre. Broadway Rocks features the vocalists of Bravo Broadway performing rock-inspired hits of today’s Broadway shows.
“Broadway music is always a favorite for our Pops audience and what better way to kick-off the Pops season than with guest artists who connected so well with the orchestra and the audience last year,” Conductor Daniel Meyer said.
Bravo Broadway vocalists Doug LeBrecque, Debbie Gravitte, and Anne Runolfsson will perform contemporary hits from Hairspray, Wicked, Mamma Mia, Lion King, Phantom of the Opera and more. All three vocalists have thrilled theater audiences for years, sung with numerous symphony orchestras and are featured on various recordings. In addition, Erie's own Kate Murosky will join the trio for a special treat.
Tickets prices for the show range from $16 - $48. Discounts are available for students, groups, and seniors, and $10 Rush Tickets will be sold 15 minutes before show time, if seats are available. Doors open at 7 pm.
(Win two tickets to Saturday's Broadway Rocks by being the first person to name the composer of the Broadway hit Victor, Victoria. Respond to this email.)
This Hanes Erie pops concert is part of the YEP New Attitudes Series and is also sponsored by Lincoln Metal Processing, Classy 100, Printing Concepts and YourErie.com.
TRIVIA: The first Erie Phil pops concert was performed in the mid 1940's!
A PRESIDENTIAL LUNCHEON
The Kahkwa Club was the site of a recent luncheon for Erie Philharmonic Past Board Presidents hosted by current President Deb Murphy. What a crew! During their reigns, they were all instrumental in taking the orchestra to where it is today and are still filled with a wealth of insight about the organization.
Those in attendance included: (Front row, left to right, Eric Borenstein, Executive Director; Daniel Meyer, Conductor; Christie Ferrier (2006-08); Fred Sickert (1974-76); Blossom McBrier (1961-63) and John Claridge (1969-71); Back row, left to right, Howard Lincoln (1976-77): Tom Vicary (2000-02): Deborah Murphy, current president; Wally Knox (1992-94); John Fust (1963-64); Sandra Jarecki (1986-89); and Doug Murphy (1994-96).
JUST 60 DAYS LEFT
There are only 60 days left to reserve your seat at the Erie Phil's wildly popular Holiday Pops concert. Erie's premiere holiday tradition, Come Home for the Holidays, will feature Broadway performer and Erie native Nick Adams. It will also feature the Erie Phil Chorus, a children's choir and perhaps a surprise visit from the white bearded man in the red suit!
Last year's show was a sell-out, so you are encouraged to get your seats early for the December 13 concert. Reserve your tickets today at www.eriephil.org.
