LAST CHANCE TO JOIN THE SEARCH

LAST CHANCE TO JOIN THE SEARCH

Whether you've attended all four symphonic concerts and watched each of the Music Director candidates in action, have seen just one of the four talented conductors, or have yet to experience the excitement of this search season, Saturday, April 21 is your last chance.

John Jeter, currently in his 10th season as Music Director and Conductor of the Fort Smith Symphony in Arkansas, will lead the orchestra in Young Guns!  To find out more about Jeter, visit www.eriephil.org

Young Guns! will also feature guest soloists Augustin Hadelich, a young violinist who was a gold medal winner in the 2006 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis and pianist Yingdi Sun, a First Prize Winner in the 2005 International Franz Liszt Competition in Utrecht. *

Plan to attend the famously popular Classics in the Evening with Wally Faas, a pre-concert discussion, at 7:15 in the National City Community Room adjacent to the Warner Lobby.

Admission to the concert is $15, $25, $33, and $46 with discounts for students, groups, and seniors. $10 Rush Tickets will be available 15 minutes before show time at the Warner Theatre. Call 455-1375 ext 4, for advance tickets and information or order online.

The Symphonic Series is sponsored by Scott Enterprises. This concert is also sponsored by WQLN.

*Both soloists will appear in a more intimate setting at Mercyhurst College on Sunday, April 22.  Learn more about the artists at www.yingdisun.com and www.augustinhadelich.de. Call 824-3000 for details about their performance at Mercyhurst.

WHO WILL STRIKE UP THE BAND?

WHO WILL STRIKE UP THE BAND?

Before you read the rest of this newsletter or the rest of your emails, mark June 9 on your calendar.  That's when the Phil's new Music Director will be announced to the community.

After a two and a half year process, the Erie Philharmonic will announce who will take the one baton and lead the nationally recognized orchestra.   The official announcement will take place at a ticketed fundraising event (call Jennifer Farrar at 455-1375 ext. 5 for ticket details) at the beautiful country estate of Karen Black.

This is one summer event you won't want to miss.

PASSIONATE, TENDER AND RAMBUNCTIOUS

PASSIONATE, TENDER AND RAMBUNCTIOUS

That's how the music of Cherish the Ladies has been described by The New York Times. . . passionate, tender and rambunctious.

One of the most engaging ensembles in the history of Irish music, Cherish the Ladies will perform with the Erie Phil on Saturday, May 12.  According to the Boston Globe. . . "It's simply impossible to imagine an audience that wouldn't enjoy what they do."

The Ladies have recorded ten highly acclaimed albums.  They have been named Best Musical Group of the Year by the BBC, Entertainment Group of the Year by the Irish Voice Newspaper and the Top North American Celtic act by NPR Radio's "Thistle and Shamrock."

It's Mother's Day Weekend AND Girls' Night Out at the Phil -- a perfect time to celebrate all the special women in our lives.  Share this special night with your mother, wife, sister or best gal pals. Pre-concert in the Warner lobbies, look for special activities and vendor displays.

As usual tickets start at just $15, and they are selling fast.  Reserve yours today at 455-1375, x 4 or online at eriephil.org.
