BROADWAY HITS - ALWAYS A FAVORITE
Three accomplished guest artists will join the Erie Philharmonic and perform favorite Broadway hits to open this year’s Hanes Erie Pops Series on Saturday, October 20, at 8 PM. at the Warner Theatre. Music of the Night: Andrew Lloyd Webber and Friends will feature selections by Webber and others such as Elton John and Marvin Hamlisch.
“Each year we bring in one of the hottest Pops shows around to kick off our Pops season. We're so excited to have Debbie, Anne, and Doug join us. They are all wonderful singers direct from Broadway and the program is sure to please,” Executive Director Eric Borenstein said.
Debbie Gravitte, who performed with the Philharmonic last year in Three Broadway Divas, has starred in Chicago and Les Miserable, and has appeared in the Encore’s series productions of The Boys from Syracuse, Tenderloin, and Carnival at New York’s City Center.
Debbie will be joined by Anne Runolfsson, who has starred on Broadway in Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable, and The Secret Garden. Anne’s distinct versatility has lead to her success not only in theater, but also in recording studios, intimate cabaret spaces, and concert halls throughout the world.
Completing the trio is Doug LaBrecque, who has starred in A Chorus Line and A Wonderful Life. Doug has also been a soloist with some of the world’s finest symphony orchestra’s including the National Symphony, The Chicago Symphony, and the Cleveland Orchestra.
The trio will perform music from Beauty and the Beast, Cats, Rent, and many more. Guest conductor Peter Stafford Wilson, who conducted last year's Heritage Festival performance, will be back to direct the orchestra this weekend.
Tickets prices for the show range from $15 - $47. Discounts are available for students, groups, and seniors, and $10 Rush Tickets will be available 15 minutes before show time. Doors open at 7 p.m. Call 455-1375 ext 4 for ticket information or visit http://www.eriephil.org/tickets/buy-a-ticket/

CONCERTS FOR YOUTH PART OF EDUCATION PROGRAM
Dozens of school buses will transport students from Erie and Crawford counties to the Warner Theatre on Thursday, October 18, for a special Erie Philharmonic performance designed for youth. This year, one of the largest groups ever will attend the Philharmonic’s annual Youth Concert with more than 4,400 elementary and middle school students expected.
This year’s concert is based on Mordicai Gerstein’s book, “What Charlie Heard,” which will include Country Band March, William Tell Overture, and Thunder and Lightening Polka. Guest Conductor Peter Stafford Wilson, who conducted last year’s Heritage Festival performance as well as the youth concerts, will interact with the audience and will even ask them to sing along at times. The Jr. Philharmonic will also perform.
The first group of students, ranging from grades 2 through 8, will arrive at the Warner Theatre for a 10 a.m. performance. The second concert will begin at 11:30 a.m., and admission is only $1 per student.
Teachers were provided with educational material by the Erie Philharmonic to prepare their students for the event. The annual youth concert is part of the Philharmonic’s education program.
